Our Space exists because two people looked around and couldn't find what they were craving — a workspace that felt like it actually belonged to the people in it.
Our Space started with a simple, frustrating observation: the people doing some of the most important work — diverse women, queer leaders, femmes building businesses and practices and movements — often do it in isolation. Expensive coworking spaces. Lonely home offices. Coffee shops that got old fast.
Lani and Britt met because their kids were in preschool together. They figured out pretty quickly they were craving the same thing: a workspace that felt like it actually belonged to the people in it. So in early 2026, they stopped waiting for someone else to build it.
Our Space is the result — scrappy, intentional, and rooted in the belief that we do better work when we do it together.

I spent two decades working at the intersection of leadership, equity, and organizational change — across the public, private, and social sectors. Building inclusive teams, coaching emerging leaders. Meaningful work. But I kept coming back to the same question: who's building this support for the people doing the hardest work — diverse women and queer leaders, often alone?
When I left a senior consulting role to start my own practice, I kept looking for a workspace that felt right. Nothing did. And then I thought: why not me? Why not us? So we built it.
Our Space is the result — a community-first workspace rooted in authenticity, equity, and belonging.

I've been part of the South Berkeley / North Oakland community for over 20 years and care deeply about this little slice of the world.
For the past decade I've run LittleFeminist.com, a social enterprise that both publishes and promotes diverse children's books. I also work as a Fractional Chief Marketing Officer — helping mission-driven businesses reach their people.
A few years ago, when I became a parent, my world got smaller in a way I didn't expect. I found myself craving a place to go that wasn't home, wasn't work — but still felt like both.
Our Space is that place. Built for focus, connection, and the simple human need to be in community.
Our Space is home to about 20 of us, and growing. Here are a few who've shared their stories.

“Centering BIPOC and queer voices feels more familiar to me than white, hetero-normative spaces. I feel at ease with people who reflect on how being ‘othered’ shapes us — and who think deeply about race, gender, and class.”
